The Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker

Ever tried playing air guitar? Even though playing air guitar consists mainly of exaggerated strumming and picking motions, Jada Toys and Nitrous Roxide have introduced a device that will make playing the air guitar more realistic and challenging.
Called the “Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker” device, the player will wear a special belt buckle and strum a pick over the buckle to compose up to 10 different songs, such as Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man.” A video of the Roxide playing the device can be seen here. The Air Guitar Rocker also comes with a mini-amplifier, which the player would wear on his hip.
Previously, other developments have been made attempting to make playing air guitar more realistic. Helsinki University of Technology students developed a system similar to the Air Guitar Rocker device in 2005, which interprets hand movements into electrical guitar sounds. As well, Australian researchers in 2006 created a sensitive T-shirt that tracks the movement of the wearer and creates guitar sounds.
The Air Guitar Rocker is planned to be released this March for $29.95 and looks like a very interesting way to play air guitar. If this stuff catches on, then anyone could play their own kind of electric guitar music anywhere.
