Is Derald's leaving?

It was a Monday. Fourth-period calculus had just ended, and I was starving. I took out my wallet and saw that I had $3, enough money to get a sandwich. I quickly walked out of the south entrance, thinking whether I should get a bacon double cheeseburger or a triple. I took a few steps toward the crosswalk, a familiar daily route to the white truck where my lunch awaited. But to my surprise, it wasn’t there!
Many Uni students are probably familiar with the food truck called "Derald’s Catering," or just "Derald’s," that parks every day on Mathews Avenue. However, some people may have noticed that Derald’s has been frequently absent for the past few weeks.
Until the recent absences, I had never realized how much I depended on Derald’s. Being very close to Uni, it is convenient for Uni students to go there and get a simple lunch — a hamburger, a Philly burger, or maybe the ever popular fish sandwich — that is also cheap and quick. As a result, Derald’s has gathered quite a following of regulars, including me.
Without Derald’s around on most days, I had to find other ways to obtain lunch these past weeks, like bringing a home lunch or eating on campus. Although bringing lunch would not be a big problem, I could not stop thinking about why Derald’s has not shown up.
Derald’s has been around at that same corner right outside Uni ever since I was a subbie, and it has grown to be a well-established part of the Uni community. During my years at Uni, the Derald's truck rarely missed any days. Are the recent absences a sign that Derald’s is gradually moving away or closing down? If Derald’s were to never show up again, then we would lose a small but memorable part of the Uni experience. There would no longer be the tasty hamburgers, Philly burgers, and fish sandwiches.

You're right, Derald's is a really important part of the uni experience. I remember in Freshman biology my group and I swabbed Doug's hands for the petri-dish sample exercise (to see how many organisms were on them), and not much of anything ended up growing. The man's hands are clean. And he makes a darn good bacon double.
I AGREE.
I COMPLETELY AGREE! I got breakfast at Derald's a number of times last year, and I feel a hole in my heart where it used to be. :(
Derald's
While I, too, enjoy the food at Derald's and agree it is certainly a beloved Uni tradition, I think you overlook an important aspect that should be even more missed. Where else on campus does the person serving the food know you by name? Where else does the cook know how you prefer your double cheeseburger? I went over one day to order something for my daughter and as soon as I told Doug what I wanted, he noted that it must be for Sarah. And stand around for a bit. He does that not only for Uni kids, but for almost everyone else who comes up. While we may all worry about our stomachs, there are other place we can eat. We should maybe worry more that something might be wrong with someone who takes at least a nominal interest in who we are and tries to make us feel happy, full, and appreciated. Maybe we should all take time to tell Doug we missed HIM, not just his burgers.

After all the good news...
After all the good news and great reviews heard here, and the good smells hitting my nose every morning, I will definitely have to give Derald's a try. The truck has been in front of Noyes Lab on Mathews for quite some time now and I think it's because of business. Tons of kids and regulars walk over from the quad for breakfast and lunch as well as plenty of students walking from ISR to morning class. Your loss will soon be my gain for as long as Derald's decides to stay on my morning footpath, until he maybe decides to grace another part of campus with the sweet sweet smells lofting over from the famous Derald's Catering truck.
