Stuffed with knowledge

This year being my third at Uni, I have increased my skills in many subjects, especially that of knowledge cramming and knowledge purging.

You know that feeling when you go to a restaurant and you are given an overflowing plate and, no matter how long you keep on going at it, it never seems to put a dent in the amount of food in front of you?

Now, do you know that feeling when you just have so much to study, and you’ve been working for three or four hours, and you still have so much to study?

I think those two feelings are the same. Except, at the restaurant you are digging into a tasty meal, whereas studying just isn’t as … I don’t know … tasty?

What is the benefit of all of this? Can any good come from staying up late into the night just to cram a handful of dates, formulas, etc. into your head, all of which you will proceed to forget as soon as you are done with the test? I have learned a lot at this school, but I have probably forgotten more facts than I have remembered.

A lot of the time I feel like teachers struggle to teach us more and more, up until the very last minute before an exam.

I often disregard this information, not because I’m careless but because I feel like I have too much to memorize. I would rather know a little bit of information very well than vaguely have an idea about a large amount of information.

I think a good solution for Uni teachers would be to divide big exams into two separate, smaller ones, maybe a week apart instead of the normal two to three weeks. It’s a lot easier to comb through huge topics if we can divide them up and focus on a portion of them.

At least I know that I, personally, would get a couple more hours of sleep.
