Procrastination frustration

Lately, I’ve become distracted more easily than usual when I’m trying to work. If I’m typing a paper, it’s convenient to check my e-mail. Then, I might happen to have a notification from Facebook, so I check it out. Of course, this leads to looking at photos for an hour, until I remember that I have a lot of work to do.

Then I wonder: Am I naturally getting distracted? Or am I trying to find ways to procrastinate? Why can’t I just sit down and do all my work at once?

It seems like I’ve tried every way possible to keep myself focused. I’ll eat a bite of chocolate for every math problem I do, or I’ll let myself watch half an hour of TV for every two hours of work I do. But I always end up eating the whole chocolate bar, or watching two hours of TV instead.

Of course, I don’t always feel the need to procrastinate. Many times I feel extremely motivated and ready to work. But this makes it even harder to find a way to stop procrastinating, because I never know when I’ll suddenly just want to sleep for 20 hours straight.

In theory, it would be best to do my work early so that I’ll have more time to do fun things later. But when I try to do work early on a Saturday, I always seem to take longer, because I know that it doesn’t have to be done at the moment. On Sunday night, however, motivation comes from the added time factor.

I'm not trying to justify my habits of procrastination. I wish I could be the student who always finishes all her homework on time, while still maintaining a social life. But, I suppose until I become perfect, my best effort will do.
