Welcome, Guest!
The resurrection we've all been waiting for
Published: Monday, March 17, 2008 - 4:25pm
One day you wake up to complete silence, and you decide to lie in your bed for five more minutes because the entire environment outside of your cover is ridiculously cold. You bundle up with the thickest layers you can manage, you forget to look at the sky because there is no sun there, and you try to stay inside as much as possible.
Then, two weeks later, it's all different. You wake up to the sound of birds chirping that you have grown to miss, you slowly get out of bed rejoicing that it's not freezing cold. You forget to put on a jacket and you really don't care, you remember to look at the sky because it's so striking, and you get as much fresh air as you can.
That's what it feels like is happening right now. Watching the resurrection of the nature and people around me is such a weird experience. Even though humans don't technically hibernate during winter, it definitely feels like it; everything seems longer, harder, and grayer. It's amazing to see what a little sunlight and warmth can do to improve your disposition.
Being able to drive home and see the sun setting and people playing outside is just another sign that we're not the far away from the glorious SUMMER.
Another highlight of spring is the fact that we get a relatively long break. We actually get time to enjoy the nice weather instead of sitting staring wistfully out of the window while we do homework.
I know when I can walk outside without my heavy coat that it's almost the end of the year. I guess I'm probably looking far ahead in the future (about two months), but I hope it goes by quickly.
