PSATs are tomorrow

Tomorrow, the sophomore class will be practicing for a practice test of the SAT. We will be missing half of the school day to take the PSAT for the first time.

When I think about what this means, I can’t help but be amazed at how old I’ve become. It seems like yesterday when I was just a prepubescent youth attending his first day of middle school. Now, I’m starting to prepare for a test that helps to determine what college I will go to.

I admit, the idea of leaving to go to college is kind of scary right now. I’m definitely not ready to take such a drastic step toward independence; and yet, it’s a good feeling to not be ready to go off to college.

After this year, I still have two years of high school left. That’s two more years to have fun and live life. It also means that college is two gigantic years away, and according to my perception of time, that’s an eternity.

So instead of worrying about the SAT, the PSAT just makes me want to get the most out the eternity separating me and college. Tomorrow, I’ll keep that in mind — after all, it’s just a practice practice test.
