Pre-ordering pizza
Published: Tuesday, November 6, 2007 - 9:35pm
The bell rings and lunch has started. I rush down from my class on the second floor to get in line for pizza as quickly as possible.
When I reach the cafeteria, my heart sinks when I see a huge line that stretches all the way to the north entrance. I stand at the end of the line and am very boxed in from all the others waiting to get their pizzas.
After waiting for five minutes, I hear: “We’re out of pizza! We’re out of pizza!”
Recently, it seems that the pizza lines are getting longer and longer and that sometimes the pizza runs out too fast. Last month, the boys basketball team introduced the idea of being able to pre-order pizza in an attempt to make pizza sales more efficient.
The day before the team's pizza sale, my friends and I pre-ordered a full one-topping pizza. Pre-ordering was much more efficient and less time consuming than the traditional way of selling pizza; we just showed up with the money and got our box of pizza.
And not only is it much more efficient and less time consuming, pre-ordering also allows pizza sales to sell more stuff.
After their successful first pre-ordering pizza sale, the boys team did another pre-ordering sale, this time adding breadsticks, chicken strips, and sweet treats to the list. The sale turned out to be once again a success and much better than traditional pizza sales.
All problems and issues of people going hungry or missing clubs will be solved by the idea of being able to pre-order pizza. I think that what the basketball team is doing is a really good idea and should continue, and other clubs should think about taking up the idea to benefit their customers more.
