BROADLANDS — The Illineks outscored their opponents 130-73 Thursday as they won both of their games on the first day of the three-day Hayden's Classic holiday tournament at Heritage High School.
Uni defeated the hometown Hawks in the first game 67-32, with senior Isaac Radnitzer netting a team-high 16 points. The Illineks dominated throughout, holding a 32-16 lead at halftime. Eleven players saw action for head coach Joel Beesley.
In the second contest, senior Frankie McFarland's 17 points led Uni to a 63-41 victory over Georgetown-Ridge Farm. This was another game in which the Illineks gained control early, establishing a 23-9 lead in the first quarter.
The wins raise Uni's varsity record to 8-1. The Illineks are scheduled to play Salt Fork (a co-op team combining Jamaica and Catlin) and Atwood-Hammond today, also at Heritage.
Uni will face a team from the Bismarck-Henning side of the tournament bracket on Saturday. The opponent and time will be determined by the tourney standings at the end of today's action. Saturday's game is scheduled to be played at Bismarck-Henning.
