Growing up

Last summer, at Café Kopi in downtown Champaign, I noticed some beautiful photography displayed on the walls. The colors were somehow soft, but intense. There was something about them I just loved.
Luckily, there were samples on the counter with the name of the photographer: Trevor Taylor. I checked out the Web site listed. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated in a while, but you can still view some photographs.
There is also a short film posted. It's unexpectedly intriguing, even with the disturbing theme.
Viewing these amazing pieces, I have such a feeling of inspiration. I think, Now this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. But later, at a concert or while writing or acting, I have that feeling again.
It brings me to a scary question. What do I want to do for the rest of my life? One friend told me that her teachers expected everyone in eighth grade to know what they wanted to do. I don't know about you, but when I was 13, I think I wanted to be a rock star.
I'm constantly changing my mind about my major interests. A few years ago, I had my whole life planned out. I was going to Cornell University to become a vet, and then I would move to California and live in a big house with my family, including two children and a few horses.
That dream has vanished. Going to school in New York? No way. Too cold for me.
So, I worry sometimes. What if I never know what I want to do? Then, I'll never have a job, I'll have no money, and I'll be living in a cardboard box. Maybe that's a bit pessimistic.
Of course, I know a lot of adults who still say they don't know what they want to do when they "grow up." So for now, my main goal is to have fun.
