Uni students fill the pages of Illinois History magazine
Published: Thursday, January 24, 2008 - 7:35pm
FIFTEEN UNI STUDENTS have been published in the two most recent issues of Illinois History: A Magazine for Young People.
The work of five juniors from teacher Adele Suslick’s section of Asian-American Literature and one senior from Rosemary Laughlin’s section appear in the January issue of the magazine.
Essays by nine other Uni students — all from Suslick’s freshman English class — have been published in the February issue.
Articles in the January issue focus on the theme of immigration in Illinois history. Essays in the February issue discuss the Lincoln-Douglas debates. The published articles were selected from student submissions from across Illinois.
The magazine asked students to research their topics in depth and limit their writing to between 500 and 1,000 words. The essays chosen for publication can be accessed in full at the Illinois History site and from the links below.
