The Uni girls varsity soccer team ended its scoreless streak in impressive fashion Friday, defeating Judah Christian 7-0.

The Illineks had gone without a goal for six games, stretching back to their 5-0 playoff loss to Champaign Central last May 17. The win was the team's first of 2006 and the first since last year's squad beat Mattoon 2-1 on April 28.

Sophomore Suran Yoo led the way for the host Illineks with four goals, followed by freshman Joy Shapley with two and senior Emma Marshak with one. Senior Annie Fehrenbacher contributed two assists, and sophomore Shara Esbenshade added another.

The win raised Uni's varsity record to 1-5. The visiting Illineks lost earlier this week to Urbana 10-0 on Tuesday. Thursday's game against Monticello was postponed. It will be played 4:30 p.m. on April 21 at Uni's home field.
