Welcome, Guest!
Sweethearts

My freshman year, I had to drink this nasty microwaved concoction of soy sauce, apple juice, pepper, Al Johnson's snot, and god knows what else in order to be "initiated" onto UHGB varsity. I definitely threw up in my mouth a little.
The Sweetheart Dinner is held at a senior's house the weekend before regionals. Following this, the excitement begins at the team sleepover. This year Ruthie Welch hosted the dinner, and we all crashed at Sam Nguyen's house for a night of fun.
Originally regionals was on Valentine's Day week, hence "Sweetheart." Definitely not because we are a bunch of sweethearts or something. Not when we make our new varsity members bob for Hershey's Kisses in a tub of yogurt, or give them head massages with ice cream.
After all the little former JV-ers were washed off, "Guitar Hero" immediately consumed our interest. I swear I'm developing carpal-tunnel ... it was intense.
We have this movie we watch every year, usually at team camp in the summer, called "10 Things I Hate About You." This is always a must-see whenever we're together hanging out as a team.
But this year, as we were mourning the death of beloved actor Heath Ledger, who starred in the film, we couldn't bring ourselves to watch it. Instead, we watched "Sydney White," because Sarah Pfander really, really wanted to watch it. Just to see how bad it was, of course. Love you, Sarah.
I fell asleep before I could see the end of "Sydney White," though. Gosh darn it.
It's kind of ironc how much love I feel for the team now because of all this, because our season is practically over. Our regional game was canceled for tonight but is rescheduled for Wednesday. If we don't win that, it's over.
I just want to do a shout-out to the '08 seniors. Those guys are my favorite, and I'll miss them a heck of a lot next year.
