Agora Days '08: Snapshots from Days 3 & 4

AGORA DAYS '08 followed its predecessors in being a tremendous success and a welcome respite from Uni's regular curriculum.

During the four-day week, which ended Friday, students, faculty, parents, alums, and friends of the school taught 113 courses. Click here to see the full schedule.

The classes ranged from academic (47) to fine arts (12) to cooking (six) to games (13) to movies (16) to sports (11) to “other” (eight). Uni's regular schedule resumed today.

In addition, 17 students spent last week in Clarksdale, Miss., as part of the school's annual Habitat for Humanity trip to the Mississippi Delta. History teacher Bill Sutton founded the trip in 1996. Joining Sutton as a chaperone was PE teacher Doug Mynatt. The students helped the local Habitat chapter build housing for low-income residents.

Photographers Sindha Agha and Maritza Mestre dropped in on some of the Agora '08 classes Thursday and Friday, and they brought back these final samples of the week that was. They also documented some of the downtime in the student lounge.

Agha took the photos of Hot Air Ballooning, Learn to Dance SWING!, and Ballet Class. Mestre photographed Euchre.

Hot Air Ballooning was taught by Dave Reineke, Bill Siems, and Terry Ladage; Learn to Dance SWING! by Janice Mouschovias and Ron Carbonari; Ballet Class by Karolina Kalbarczyk, Sophie Shenk, Natsuki Nakamura, and Vaishnavi Giridaran; and Euchre by Noel Knox and Daniel McNamara.
