Posted Wednesday, April 19, 2006, The OG, sports
Sophomore Kimmy Pillow scored in the first half of Tuesday's home game against Decatur St. Teresa, but that wasn't enough to prevent the Illineks from dropping their ninth game of the season, 5-1.
Pillow's goal came with 17:38 left in the half, about two minutes after St. Teresa went on top 1-0. The visiting Bulldogs broke the tie at the 14:30 mark and added another goal four minutes later to go into halftime ahead 3-1.
St. Teresa added two more goals in the second half, including one with only 1:59 left to play. Uni managed three shots on goal in the first half and five shots in the second.
Junior Mandy Grill continued her strong play in goal for the Illineks with 14 saves (six in the first half, eight in the second).
With the loss, Uni's record stands at 1-9.
The girls will visit Decatur Christian on Thursday in East Central Illinois Conference action. The Illineks are 1-2 in the ECIC. Directions to Decatur Christian can be found here. The varsity game begins at 4:30 p.m.
