WHAT BETTER WAY to start a week of song poetry than with obscure, alternative rock lyrics?
The band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah hit the music scene with their self-titled debut in 2005. They made a huge stir in the indie rock work and have since released a sophomore album called "Some Loud Thunder."
"Details of the War," off their first CD, is incredibly hard to comprehend, which means it must be really poetic.
Well, that's mostly a joke, but please enjoy the simple power of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
"DETAILS OF THE WAR"
by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Bloody sheets
Tenderly she moves me
An opera star
Dying hard for love
You say I'm hurt
I will take your wordLeather pants
Happiness
A hundred dollars
Buy success
Hanging with your fashionable whores
And I'm a wounded bird
I will take your wordYou and tom
To the prom
Camel d**k
Crucifix
Everyone's the same and on and on
Emerging from the football stands
Clinging to his broken hand
It's over I have seen it all beforeNakedness
A flying lesson
Tattered dress
Sunburned chest
You will pay for your excessive charm
With a boy who knows
Less than he thinks
Drinks up his expensive drinks
Be careful with the details of the war
