Student Council executive elections will take place Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the kitchen. All subfreshmen through juniors are eligible to vote for candidates for the three executive offices: president, vice president, and secretary/treasurer.
People will be in the kitchen ready to take your votes. They will require you to check yourself off a list, and then they will give you a ballot to fill out. Results should be counted later in the afternoon.
The candidates for StudCo executive vice president are juniors Annie Liang and Krista Olson. They provided Student Council with brief bios. The Online Gargoyle asked each candidate to respond to several questions. We did not receive their responses in time to post them.
Candidate bios
ANNIE LIANG
My name is Annie and I'm running for VP. I believe I am qualified for this position due to my organizational skills, my inherent friendly nature, and my leadership experiences. I have served as class president, founded clubs at Uni, and served as an editor for the Gargoyle. My dedication, commitment, and openness to new ideas, however, cannot be represented by a snazzy title. If I were elected to StudCo, I would focus this dedication and energy onto getting things done efficiently while keeping the rest of the school updated on the latest schoolwide affairs.
I'd appreciate your vote in this election. Thanks!
KRISTA OLSON
Greetings. My name is Krista Olson and I am running for executive vice president. If elected, I would work with my fellow executive officers, class officers, and students to develop ways to use surplus Student Council funds to benefit the student body. I would like to see a Student Council more involved in student activities such as clubs and service projects. To make sure Student Council actions reflect the opinions and needs of the students, I would also encourage students who are not class officers to attend Student Council meetings and voice their opinions. I feel I am qualified for the position of executive vice president because, in addition to having served my class for the past three years as president and secretary/treasurer, I am also involved in many student organizations and clubs. I am organized, diligent, and work well with others. Along with the executive president, secretary/treasurer, and class officers, I feel I would make a more involved and open Student Council.
If you think I'm up for the job, please vote for me for executive vice president.
