Adams, Liang, Granick elected Student Council executive officers
Posted Tuesday, May 16, 2006, The OG, news
Uni students today elected junior Sharajonnie Adams as Student Council executive president for 2006-07. Joining her will be fellow juniors Annie Liang as executive vice president and Martin Granick as executive secretary/treasurer.
The voting took place in the kitchen throughout the school day. Student Council sponsor Rick Murphy, fine arts department head, announced the results shortly after school ended.
If you missed The Online Gargoyle's previews of the three races, here are the biographical sketches submitted by each of the winning candidates:
SHARAJONNIE ADAMS, executive president
This is my first year at Uni High, and I come from a completely different high school culture than this. This year I transferred from Centennial High School, where I was a representative in Student Council my freshman and sophomore years. As an “outsider” to this school I was able to notice some changes that should be made. I would like to see that this Student Council becomes more interactive with the students and its community. I believe that I am a great candidate, and I hope to bring about positive changes at Uni.

ANNIE LIANG, executive vice president
My name is Annie and I'm running for VP. I believe I am qualified for this position due to my organizational skills, my inherent friendly nature, and my leadership experiences. I have served as class president, founded clubs at Uni, and served as an editor for the Gargoyle. My dedication, commitment, and openness to new ideas, however, cannot be represented by a snazzy title. If I were elected to StudCo, I would focus this dedication and energy onto getting things done efficiently while keeping the rest of the school updated on the latest schoolwide affairs.

MARTIN GRANICK, executive secretary/treasurer
If being qualified for a position as executive secretary/treasurer could be personified in the ability to score touchdowns, I could be easily mistaken for Terrell Owens. For the past two years, I have been helping the class of ‘07 as secretary/treasurer. This position — especially this year — was crucial for knowing specific details for prom and class activities that required money. The experience that is necessary for being an executive officer was gained from me going to Student Council every week to see how the present and past exec officers handled meetings. Although the role of secretary/treasurer is to send out prompt weekly minutes and knowing money issues, the secretary/treasurer also has to work with the exec president and vice president to help and satisfy the student body, and the school as a whole. Could I not do this and more? There are two possible answers, and by two, I mean one. That answer certainly is yes.
