DANVILLE — Uni fell to Danville in a dual meet Saturday in Uni's second contest in a row at Danville High School.
The Killer Whales' lack of divers and small numbers, with one-third of the team missing, led to a decisive Danville victory with a score of 109-61. The meet was originally scheduled to include Danville Schlarman, but the Hilltoppers didn't have enough swimmers to field a team.
Junior Lisa Boyce had another breakout performance with first-place finishes and pool records in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 55.74 seconds) and the 100 butterfly (58.56).
Boyce also propelled the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams to first place. She broke a third pool record in the 100 freestyle during the first leg of the 400 relay that out touched Danville — something that hasn't happened in years.
Joining Boyce on both relays were freshman Milee Nelson and juniors Erika Belmont and Sian Best.
Nelson, who swam the last leg of the 400, also had a second-place finish in the 100 free, with a time of 58.47 seconds. Fellow freshman Anna Rubakhina and junior Maritza Mestre also had second-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.39) and 100 backstroke (1:13.82), respectively.
This is the fifth meet out of six that Boyce has set at least one pool record, yet this is the first meet she has set three pool records. Boyce now holds one-half of the records in individual events at Danville, with four.
The Killer Whales will swim again this Saturday at the Central Invite at Centennial's Unit 4 Pool.
