DANVILLE — The Uni girls swim team lost to Centennial and Danville Tuesday afternoon in a tri-meet at Danville High School.

Centennial won the meet with 140 points, followed by Danville (108) and Uni (79).

The 200-yard medley relay of freshman Erika Belmont and seniors Nicole Gong, Anne Dixon, and Liz Reese finished second with a time of 2 minutes, 10.58 seconds, six seconds behind first-place Centennial.

The 200 freestyle relay of Gong, Reese, Dixon, and junior Katie Ryan placed third with a seasonal best time of 1:54.58.

Individually, junior Katie Ryan placed second in the 500 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle with times of 6:10.75 and 2:17.48, respectively.

Gong also scored top-three finishes with third place in both the 200 individual medley (2:36.10) and 100 fly (1:08.63). Dixon was the other top Uni finisher, placing third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:21, only a few milliseconds behind the second-place finisher from Danville.

Ryan was Uni's leading individual scorer (nine points), followed by Dixon (six points). The Stingrays, as the team calls itself this season, scored four more points than they did at this meet last year.

This Saturday, Uni travels to Danville High again, to face Danville along with Schlarman and Urbana.
