DANVILLE — The boys varsity soccer team lost to Danville Schlarman tonight 2-0 in a game played under the lights at the Schlarman football field.

The loss drops Uni's record to 12-2 after the Illineks started the season 12-0. Warrensburg-Latham handed Uni its first loss Monday, also by a 2-0 score.

Last year Uni was the only team to defeat Schlarman during the regular season. The Hilltoppers went on to place fourth at the Class A state tournament.

Schlarman, the No. 2 seed in the Peotone sectional, is now 12-2. Uni is the No. 1 seed in the Monticello sectional.

The Hilltoppers scored once in the first half. They scored their final goal with 32 minutes, 25 seconds left in the game.

Most of the action in the second half occurred on the Schlarman side of the field as Uni put plenty of pressure on the Hilltoppers, but the Illineks couldn't translate their opportunities into goals.

Look for more coverage of the Schlarman game Friday.

Uni will host Urbana 10 a.m. Saturday at DCR fields.
