Yes. Rights collide and come into conflict. When that happens, the judicial system tries to sort things out. Rights are not absolutes. Not even the right to life is an absolute -- at least not under our system of capital punishment. In the case of free speech, I don't have the right to libel you. That's just one of many restrictions on my (and your) speech.
You might disagree with Sarah's column, but her fundamental notion of the need to balance competing claims in a complex society strikes me as unassailable. Exactly where that balance resides is the tricky question, of course.
