Ms. Pfander, Are you offended when a classmate wears a shirt proclaiming "Chief Now and Forever"? Have you ever sat in a class where the story you are reading contains a pejorative term so visceral your stomach knots, but you don't say anything because you know no one around you feels that term the way you do? If so, who do you talk to? That is the problem, and far too many of us -- and I include myself in that -- do not understand. These issues are not as blatant as grinding. Having someone raise our consciousness may be true education.
