Spirit Week, Pts. 4 & 5: Pajama Day & Hippie Day!

Posted Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, The OG, news & photo galleries

IT WAS NO surprise Thursday when loads of tired Uni students happily rolled out of bed and straight into school for Pajama Day as Spirit Week continued its long march toward the weekend. On Friday, Uni took a trip back to the Sixties when kids dressed up for Hippie Day in everything from tie-dyed shirts to headbands to complete their looks — and a few faculty members got to relive their misspent youth.

Although there was no home basketball game to conclude the week, diehard Uni sports fans who made the 60-mile trek Friday night to Normal Calvary Baptist saw a bit of history when junior Mike Renner scored his 1,000th career point, becoming only the third male Uni basketball player to do so. The Illineks won 58-55 to stay atop the East Central Illinois Conference.
