Here's a checklist of several characteristics, traits, and habits that we noticed about Gossip Girl.
Kanye West fan: The posting on Oct. 20 mentioned good seats at the concert. If she's willing to pay for them, we figure she must be more than a casual listener.
Uni girls sports fan: A significant percentage of her entries deal with Uni girls sports and upcoming events.
A swim-team member: The Nov. 4 posting would not have interfered with swim-team practice, and a comment about Katie Ryan leads us to believe she's a swimmer.
A dramatist: The lack of entries during tech week of “Rumors” could mean that she's preoccupied with the late-night rehearsals.
Steak n Shake lover: A posting about a late-night expedition to Steak n Shake must mean she can't resist a midnight snack there.
Here's our final assessment of the clues.
Deborah Ladd: She's a member of the swim team, and many aren't afraid to point fingers in her direction.
Hannah Leskosky: The information we had did not allow us to eliminate her. Insider tips continued to generate suspicions.
Annie Machesky: Multiple comments were about her. Who knows you better than yourself?
Lor Sligar: Tech week might have kept her too busy to update the site.
James Smith: Multiple people feel it's him even though we're sure it's a girl.
The bottom line: The numerous clues that keep multiplying and leading us in various directions cause us to believe it could be almost anyone. Kudos to Gossip Girl for doing a decent job of covering up your tracks. We can only hope your conscience won't let you sleep until you come clean.
