THIS PAST weekend, 68 Uni juniors and seniors were present at the student group United for Uganda's overnight lock-in — the first lock-in at Uni in six years. It was a tremendous success, raising more than $1,000. Students watched movies, played video games, and chatted all night long. All participants were offered an extensive midnight snack, provided for by a number of local businesses, and were able to top it off with a home-cooked breakfast courtesy of biology teacher David Stone, junior Shara Esbenshade, and sophomore Kayla Ginsburg. The lock-in, which served as a fund-raiser, netted a total of $1,050 (after the cost of breakfast food), which United for Uganda will donate to Uganda's Children of War Rehabilitation Project at the end of the school year. For more about United for Uganda and the idea behind the lock-in, click here. (Be sure to check out the comments section at the bottom of the page, where physics teacher Ray Carrubba did some live-blogging.) UFU would like to thank the following busineses for donating food to the lock-in: Carmella's, Cozy's Custard, Culver's, Domino's, DP Dough, Gumby's, Monical's, Papa Murphy's, Pekara Bakery, Pizza Hut, Rock's, Strawberry Fields.
