Last year's seniors filled the lounge with balloons and covered the west-entrance sidewalk with elaborate graffiti as their class prank. How would the Class of 2008 top that? This morning the rest of Uni found out. Senior Anna Cangellaris takes us behind the scenes of the latest senior prank.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 9, many members of the highly energetic and mischievous Class of ’08 gathered together in the senior alcove under the exquisite supervision of history teacher Chris Butler and plotted a prank to outshine all pranks.
The students were heavily armed, with hundreds of yards of string, an assortment of paper and plastic cups, chalk, and bottles of shaving cream … yet, what to do with all of the materials of tomfoolery had not yet been determined.
The seniors pondered many different ridiculous possible pranks and eventually arrived at the most brilliant of them all; they would turn the first-floor hallway into webbed maze.
Seniors grabbed spools of string and yarn and dashed to either ends of the hallway. Strings were promptly attached to lockers, doorknobs, hinges, taped to the floor, and thrown over light fixtures. The halls were crisscrossed with trip wires and students maneuvered through their handiwork in a manner reminiscent of a secret agent navigating through a field of security lasers.
Once the string ran out completely, the seniors turned to the myriad of cups, which were of course promptly taped together and made into a giant pyramid in the middle of the first floor.
The chaos continued outside of Uni with buckets of sidewalk chalk, more string, and music courtesy of Micah Berman’s car.
Once the sidewalk chalk began running low along with the witticisms of the seniors, the problem of what to do with the shaving cream arose. Simple: Have a shaving cream battle.
As I made my way home from this crazy party around 11 p.m., covered head to toe in shaving cream and chalk, I couldn’t help but revel in how incredible the dynamic in the senior class is and how much I have enjoyed chilling with my peers these last five years.
So to all of Uni High, enjoy a morning of webbed halls courtesy of the Class of ’08.

Scores of cups were stacked geometrically in front of the lounge, quite an impressive sight before gravity took hold.

A tower of cups graced the middle of the hallway.
