Sophomore Sophie Shenk rehearses for the Champaign Urbana Ballet's annual production of "The Nutcracker." Besides Shenk, three other Uni students are performing in the holiday classic: freshmen Simone Ballard and Claire Liu and junior Karolina Kalbarczyk. Opening night was Friday, Nov. 30, at the Krannert Center's Tryon Festival Theatre, followed by shows on Saturday, Dec. 1, and Sunday, Dec. 2. The final performances will be Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2 and 7:30 p.m. This is the fourth year that the CU Ballet, Sinfonia da Camera, and Krannert have teamed up to present Tchaikovsky's musical version of E.T.A. Hoffman's famed story.
