First Susan Mynatt, the person who kept Uni's financial house in order, and now staff secretary Sherry DeMoss? On Friday, DeMoss will also leave the school. But she won't stick around on campus like Mynatt has.

No, DeMoss plans to travel for a while, first to Florida, then to New York City, and then finally to Ireland.

“It's time to leave and explore different options,” she says. “I want to look and see what's out there.”

DeMoss came to Uni in November 2004 to become assistant to Director/Principal Kassie Patton, leaving her previous job at the Illini Union. The Champaign area native, a Central High School graduate, has two children, son Kale and daughter Jill.

If you missed last year's Q&A with DeMoss in the May 27, 2005, issue of the print Gargoyle, then you might not know that she is the proud owner of a 2003 Harley-Davidson. She plans to ride her motorcycle quite a bit during the summer, by herself and with friends.

While DeMoss is excited about leaving, she will still think about Uni after she is gone.

“What I am going to miss most about Uni is working with Ms. Patton, our faculty members, and students,” she says. “Several here have touched my heart in one way or another. Uni is UNIque and this has been a great opportunity to contribute and use my skills in a POSITIVE way!”
