All 25 Uni seniors who were selected as National Merit Semifinalists in September have made the cut as finalists, according to college counselor Lisa Micele.

Only 15,000 seniors nationwide earned the distinction of National Merit Finalist out of some 1.3 million students who took the PSAT in the fall of 2004.

Uni's finalists make up almost 42 percent of their 60-member class. They are:

Katie Carmody
Julie Chen
Alejandra Collopy
Cameron Cropek
Colette DeJong
Zhe Gao
Tess Garvey
Max Goldberg
George Gu
Leah Imlay
Daniel Jacobs
Rachel Kaplan
Rose Kory
Melisa Kudeki
Emma Marshak
David Martinsek
Yuzuko Nakamura
Amirah Nelson
Michael Pitt
Shruti Purkayastha
Noam Roth
Sara Sligar
Sam Smyth
Batia Snir
Hannah Snyder

As finalists, the students became eligible for $2,500 National Merit Scholarships as well as corporate- and college-sponsored awards.

Four of the seniors have already won National Merit Scholarships: Katie Carmody, Colette DeJong, Emma Marshak, and Batia Snir.
