FOURTEEN UNI students earned all-district high school honors from the Illinois Music Educators Association this week. They auditioned at Bloomington on Monday, and the results were posted shortly afterward on Wednesday.

These students, with their instruments, are:

Isabel Vazquez, freshman, Bb clarinet

District III Chorus
Ethan Berl, junior, tenor I
Robert Croisant, senior, bass II
Michelle Gao, junior, soprano I
Daisy Hassani, senior, soprano II
Paige Martin, senior, alto II
Linda Song, junior, alto II

District III Jazz Ensemble I
Alex Cahill, senior, string/electric bass

District III Jazz Ensemble III
Ethan Berl, junior, trumpet

District III Orchestra
Alex Cahill, senior, double bass
Christine Cheng, senior, violin I
Martin Granick, senior, violin I
Jennifer Roloff, junior, oboe

In addition, three subfreshmen qualified to participate in the junior district level of the IMEA. They also auditioned in Bloomington Monday. These students are:

District III Band
Katherine Floess, Bb clarinet
Oliver Goldbart, Bb clarinet
Lily Smith, trombone

Currently, the musicians have not received their seating arrangements. A selected number of the top singers/players from the district level will be recommended for all-state honors. The students who accept will audition again to determine their places at all-state.

The district jazz festival will be held Nov. 4 at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. The district festival featuring the other honored musicians will take place Nov. 18 at Illinois State University in Normal.

The 2007 IMEA all-state music conference, which will feature performances by the all-state musicians, is scheduled for Jan. 24-27 in Peoria. Click here for more information.
