[April 4 update: Because of preparations for the spring musical, IFMU Movie Night will be held in Room 109 rather than the North Attic. This article has been updated to reflect the change.]
TWO STUDENT-MADE short films will debut Friday night at Uni High.
The International Filmmakers United club — also known as IFMU — will premiere “The Bathroom” and “The All-Nighter.” These completed projects are the product of a year's worth of effort on the part of club members.
The movies will be shown beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Room 109. They will be followed by a showing of the 1985 teen romantic comedy “Better off Dead,” starring John Cusack.
IFMU president Devin Johnson urges students to attend, saying of the IFMU short films: “They're funny, entertaining movies, and they'll only take 11 minutes to sit through. Plus, you get to hang out with us, and we're cool.”
Here's a trailer for the student films:
According to Johnson, “The All-Nighter” stars fellow senior Scott Sapp as “a hobo who saves a boy's life and makes outrageous demands in return.”
The plot of “The Bathroom” is equally comical, which Johnson describes as focusing on “a boy who pees on himself.”
Johnson wrote, directed, and starred in “The Bathroom,” while Sapp wrote and starred in “The All-Nighter,” which Johnson also directed. Both films are entirely student-produced. History teacher Bill Sutton, who is also the club sponsor, has a supporting role in “The Bathroom.”
Admission to the event is free.
