THE ARRIVAL OF spring at Uni High wouldn’t seem right without the annual production of Big Show, the riotous, hilarious, student-written and -directed performance of comedy sketches.

This year, Big Show will be directed by seniors Anna Cangellaris and Eunice How. They will be assisted by the comedic expertise of history teacher Chris Butler, longtime Big Show faculty sponsor.

Big Show auditions will be held today and Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in Room 218 as well as Tuesday at lunch in Room 218.

Auditions will consist of improvisation exercises and a personal statement about one’s interest in being part of the production.

Big Show is all about originality, spontaneity, and creativity. The cast and directors work together to write the entire production from scratch and create a show that appeals to their peers.

Once the cast is chosen, they spend the next two weeks writing sketches and brainstorming together in the Windows lab. The next couple of weeks are devoted to costuming, rehearsing, building the set, and formulating a theme for the production.

Traditionally, Big Show is performed on Friday and Saturday of X-Week in early May, and all of the show’s profits go to charity along with the profits of the week's other events. Big Show is scheduled to occur as an X-Week event again this year. However, the dates of X-Week have not yet been finalized.
