Big Show '08: Meet the cast

THE CAST LIST for Big Show '08 is up and jam-packed with some seriously comical characters.

Auditions for the show took place Monday 4 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday during lunch and after school. Directors Anna Cangellaris and Eunice How spent several hours Tuesday night poring over the audition sheets and putting together an all-star cast.

Big Show is an annual student-written and -directed showcase of comedy sketches and video pieces, usually related (albeit loosely) to a central theme. This year's production is tentatively scheduled for 7:30 p.m. May 9 and 10 in the North Attic.

During auditions, Big Show hopefuls played improv games such as Party Quirks, the "Ding" game, and Freeze. Each student also had a chance to act, tell a story, or just do something silly in front of the directors for one minute.

"Usually I'm at least a little bit nervous for auditions," said sophomore Anna Gooler. "But for Big Show, auditions are super fun!"

The cast members are:

  • Josh Chung, senior
  • Ben Daniels, junior
  • Will Erickson, subfreshman
  • Anna Gooler, sophomore
  • Julian Hartman, senior
  • Hannah Leskosky, junior
  • Alan Liang, junior
  • Grant Loos, senior
  • Andrea Park, senior
  • Adam Touririne, junior
  • Richard Weisbach, junior
  • Carl Zielinski, senior

Rehearsals will begin Friday in the Windows lab, where the cast and directors will begin to brainstorm ideas for sketches.

"Last year I had the greatest time!" said Gooler. "I'm so excited to see what we do this year!"

Larissa is on the soccer team this year, which would conflict with Big Show.

We will miss her lovely Spanish-soap-opera accent. :(
