EVERY YEAR SINCE 1983, local CBS affiliate WCIA has marked graduation season by airing one-minute TV spots called "Best of Class." The vignettes, set to music, recognize the top-ranking seniors from area high schools.
Usually two students are selected from each school, but this year 18 Uni seniors will be featured. Why the large number?
"For the second year, schools were invited to submit the names of all students who will graduate with the highest GPA in the class," said Lisa Micele, Uni director of college counseling. "The Class of 2008 has 18 students with 4.00 grade point averages."
So be sure to check WCIA later this month for the following seniors:
The video shoot will take place May 17 at Lake of the Woods Park, near Mahomet. Details of the taping will be sent directly to the students' home addresses, according to Micele.
Last year, 16 seniors represented Uni High in "Best of Class."
