Spirit Week

Spirit Week '08 begins Monday; to feature new events

If it's the last week in January, it must be Spirit Week. This year the Uni tradition returns with several new events to go along with dress-up days and the all-school assembly. In addition, the girls basketball team will celebrate Senior Night at Kenney Gym Thursday against Normal Calvary, and the boys will host the same school on Friday.

Spirit Week, Pts. 4 & 5: Pajama Day & Hippie Day!

Spirit Week concluded on a mellow note Friday as students and faculty traveled back in time to the age of hippiedom. The day before that, they came to school in their PJs. All in all, not a bad way to end a school week.

Spirit Week, Pt. 3: School Colors Day!

Spirit Week continued Wednesday with School Colors Day and an assembly at Kenney Gym. The day ended in bittersweet fashion as Uni students and faculty bade farewell to Marilyn Upah-Bant, who is leaving Uni after 15 years to become coordinator of communications at the U of I's new Center for Advanced BioEnergy Research.

Spirit Week, Pt. 2: Twin Day!

Uni saw double Tuesday as Spirit Week continued with Twin Day. Andrea Park was on hand with her trusty camera and brought back these photos.

Spirit Week, Pt. 1: Pink Day!

Spirit Week began on Monday with students decked out in the favorite shades of pink. Later that night, Mandy Grill and Bianca Zaharescu won their final home game as Illinek basketball players. (See game story and photos below.) Check inside for more of Uni's pink explosion.
