Uni wins 10th WYSE Academic Challenge state championship in 11 years

[AUDIO included] For the 10th time in 11 years, Uni High is the state champion among small schools in the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge. A team of 14 seniors coached by physics teacher Jim Carrubba won the Division 300 title this afternoon at the Illini Union. Three Uni students won first place in their individual categories: Ethan Berl (computer science), Joe Leigh (math), and Jennifer Roloff (physics).

Uni wins WYSE sectional title, heads to state contest

Uni High is one step away from winning its 10th state title in the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Academic Challenge. Uni advanced to the April state finals after winning the Division Unlimited sectional title Thursday at Eastern Illinois University. Three Uni seniors won their events: Linda Song, biology; Ethan Berl, computer science; and Jake Seeley, English.
