Spring break
After a grueling week of homework and tests, everyone is ready for the relaxing week of spring break. A week to chill, see friends, and maybe go on vacation … break couldn't come at a better time.
-
Warmer weeks
It seems like the weather has finally realized that it's time to stop being dismal. The warmth and breezes are making it feel like it's actually spring!
-
End of the year approaching
Today marks the end of third quarter, leaving us with only a couple of months left in school. Pretty soon we'll be able to just relax for three months straight — hang in there!
-
Amazing people
Alex Zhai is on his way to representing the U.S. for the third straight year at the International Math Olympiad, plus he is just one step away from making the U.S. Physics Team. Fellow senior Jennifer Roloff won two major music competitions in a span of six weeks, and she will perform an oboe concerto Saturday night as a guest soloist with the Danville Symphony Orchestra. History teacher Chris Butler is a finalist for one of the area's top teaching awards. We could go on and on with other examples, but you get the picture: We have some amazing people at this school.
-
End of the 12-minute run!
Most students have run their last 12-minute run of the year. Only a timed mile will be tested later. And for seniors, they will never have to run a 12-minute again. Yay!
-
UFU
The United for Uganda food sales at lunch have been phenomenal. Great food at a great price, and the money going to a great cause … keep it up, UFU! Last week's hip-hop benefit show was also fantastic, and featured the powerful performance of Krukid.
-
Quotes on the stairs
Going up the stairs has been much more interesting lately; the serious quotes and the funny quotes make the day a little brighter. And special kudos to the one about deadlines.

-
Workload
Though some of it is admittedly due to procrastination, it seems like projects and tests have all been pushed to this last week before spring break. Never again!
-
Have a little trust
The idea of a school-hosted post-prom is nice, but it's disheartening that it's thought we'll automatically go out and drink ourselves into oblivion. And the fact that students can't leave and then come back? Give us a little more credit, administration!
-
Trust betrayed
The recent surge in missing and possibly stolen possessions at Uni has led to a more frantic and distrustful atmosphere. Uni's always been known as an open place; no one wants to start actually locking their things away. Please. If it's not yours, then either take it to the office, the lost and found, or just leave it alone.
-
Messy lounge
Come on, everybody — we like the lounge. It takes around two seconds to clean up after yourselves. Just do it! It's tedious to clean up after someone else, but it's even worse to have lounge privileges taken away.
-
Waiting … still waiting …
Seniors who applied regular decision to colleges are getting antsy. Letters are supposed to be coming any day now, and the anticipation is unbearable.
-
Cracks in the walls
It's great that there's been an effort to fix the cracked and crumbling walls around Uni, but it would be nice if the repairs could be more aesthetically pleasing. A thin coat of paint covering a very obvious crack somewhat dampens the mood around school.
