Summer Is Finally Here!
After weeks of anticipation, summer is so close we can taste it. Just a couple more days — all we've got left is a picnic, and then graduation. Way to make it through the year!
-
Graduation
We realize that we cheered this in the last edition as well, but graduation is on Saturday at 3 p.m. — and the realization that we seniors aren't going to be here anymore is finally kicking in. Everyone should come!
-
Awards Ceremony
Congratulations to everyone who won an award at the year-end ceremony on May 20. It was great to see our peers rewarded for all of the cool things that they've done.
-
Malcolm Taylor & Ruthie Welch
Way to be the state runner-up for the 400 dash, Malcolm! You're only the second Uni male runner to have placed that high, ever — and the first since 1941! We're definitely expecting big things from you next year. And Ruthie: Way to be Uni's first female state track medalist since 1995! Your ninth-place performance in the 800 was an excellent ending to a stellar athletic career.

X-Week
What could be better than fun activities that all raise money for charity? A week of fun for a good cause awaited us May 5-10, topped off by Big Show and the senior auction, two perennial sources of excellent entertainment. The week raised more than $1,600 for Urbana-Champaign Books to Prisoners, and that amount is almost sure to increase as more money comes in from the auction.
-
Senior Supper
The Senior Supper went smashingly Wednesday night, from cheer-raising toasts to delicious food. The evening ended with the seniors watching their subbie-year plays and putting handprints on the walls. Go Class of '08!
-
Senior Prank
The seniors covered Uni's first-floor hallway with masses of string and yarn, and decorated the sidewalk outside the senior alcove. There was major bonding with shaving cream as well. We totally kicked '07's butt.

-
Finals
Whoever first came up with the idea of sitting in a room for two hours while trying to spew out everything that you know should be punished. Kudos to the teachers who made their finals fun, or to those who gave final projects instead.
-
Procrastination
You know there's something wrong when the notorious slackers in the class somehow become the first to turn things in. But really … none of us (especially the seniors) have any motivation to do anything whatsoever at this point … except welcome the end of school.
-
Earthquake In Sichuan
The baby quake that we experienced in C-U last month was nothing compared to the devastation in China. Natural disasters have been getting so much worse over the past few years … can we say global warming?
-
Graduation Parties
Yeah, we seniors are majorly excited to be sharing some last-minute love with the other members of our class … but two or three graduation parties on the same day? At the same time? Come on, guys … there's no way we can hit them all up.
