LUNCH AT SIEBEL!!!!
Oh wait. Never mind.

"Shakespeare in Hollywood"
Auditions were held this week for the fall play, "Shakespeare in Hollywood." Time for all the drama (on and off the stage), the always awkward stage kissing (of which there is going to be a lot), late nights, abandoned homework, way too much food, and a whole lot of fun. Ah, the theater …

Subfreshmen already packed for next year's language trips
We salute you, subbies, with your plethora of wheeled baggage. Who needs backpacks and lockers when you can wheel around all your possessions in suitcases, totally ready to jet off to Europe at a moment's notice? However, we would just like to urge the rest of the school to think about wearing close-toed shoes.

Fall sports teams
Originally in this space we gave a cheer to the boys soccer team, but then we realized we should have given a cheer to all the Uni fall teams — they deserve it. Led by Malcolm Taylor and Nathan Smith, boys cross country is the best it's been at Uni since the mid-1990s; girls cross country is showing great determination despite small numbers; girls volleyball has won 10 matches already and has a decent chance of breaking the school record of 20 wins; girls swimming is as exciting as ever with newcomers Lisa Boyce and Milee Nelson and veterans like Sian Best and Erika Belmont; boys soccer features the area's leading scorer in Dan Lilly and a tough defense that has given up only two goals in the last five games. The postseason should be a lot of fun for Uni teams this year.
-
Fire drill
Yay for getting out of class for 10 minutes!
-
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
Props to these two hilarious women for providing one of the best "Saturday Night Live" opening skits in years.
-
The elevator is open!
And it had better not get closed again, you disrespectful children.
-
Pictures in Uni Gym
Picture day took place in Uni Gym this year instead of the lounge. Finally, we weren't pushed out into the hallways!
-
Funny administration/teacher e-mails
Between Ms. Kovacs' missives defining road and requests to parents about discussing their children's personal bubbles, and Señora Finch's references to underclassmen as fuzzy baby mammals, Squirrelmail is definitely keeping us entertained.

-
Heightened security
It may not be functional yet, but we don't know anyone looking forward to the doors being permanently locked. Along with all those subbies and their suitcases, the school's beginning to seem like an airport.
-
Siebel closed
Thanks to some unruly students, the Siebel Center is now off limits to Uni until Oct. 6. Whoever you unruly students are, and you should know, there are a lot of people who are really mad at you.
-
Sarah Palin
She can see Russia from her house!
-
College stuff
PSATs, SATs, ACTs, résumés, applications, teacher recs, and essays on top of homework and extracurricular activities and sleep just make us all want to cry a little bit.
-
New Facebook
Facebook is officially switching over to a completely different layout with strange tabs and missing buttons and totally rearranged profile pages that are confusing and angering quite a lot of Facebook users. Please don't make us actually want to go back to MySpace!
-
Fuchsia is EVERYWHERE
It is sorta funny that someone messed up and got too much fuchsia paper (or was that just a rumor we heard somewhere?), but that color is beginning to make us cringe. It is inescapable.
