Column: My fateful Saturday

"I never really got the hang of parking," writes Elaine Gu. Combine that with the crowded lot at the Champaign Public Library and a teenage driver running behind schedule, and you've got the ingredients of Elaine's fateful Saturday.

Column: Parking lot blues

"After three years of driving me to and from school and taking me to various sports practices and extracurricular events, my parents were tired of being my chauffeur," writes Elaine Gu. "Driving me to places interfered with their schedules, so they bought me a car and a campus parking permit. Initially, I was ecstatic to be able to drive myself to school every day. However, I soon realized that having a parking permit wasn’t so great."

I live 40 minutes away from Uni.

And that's when there's hardly any traffic.

It's really hard for my parents to pick me up from things at school, especially when they don't coincide with their plans in town.
