Column: Final exams? Final straw

'Tis the season to celebrate the holidays — and to study for final exams. But is all that cramming really worth it? Aren't there better ways to evaluate how well students have learned a subject? Lizzy Warner thinks so, and she offers a few suggestions.

Final straw

When it gets toward this time of year students are filled with joy that the holiday season is approaching: no school, no homework, and we actually get to sleep in for once! But it never fails that this feeling of joy is overcome by an overwhelming feeling of stress. In essence, finals week.

Stuffed with knowledge

This year being my third at Uni, I have increased my skills in many subjects, especially that of knowledge cramming and knowledge purging.

You know that feeling when you go to a restaurant and you are given an overflowing plate and, no matter how long you keep on going at it, it never seems to put a dent in the amount of food in front of you?
