URBANA — The girls varsity volleyball team Monday lost its second straight conference match, falling to Normal Calvary Baptist at Kenney Gym 24-26, 25-15, 23-25.

This loss drops Uni's season record to 6-11 overall and 3-2 in the East Central Illinois Conference. The Illineks, who had started 3-0 in conference play, fall to second place behind Deland-Weldon.

Senior Beckaa Wallig led Uni with eight kills, followed by senior Mandy Grill with seven. Sophomores Jessi Sullivan and Rachel Skoza added five and four kills respectively.

Skoza and Wallig both racked up three blocks each, and junior Ruthie Welch had 23 assists.

Junior Jamie Weiser led the team in digs with 14, followed by Grill with 10, sophomore Annie Machesky with eight, and senior Annie Liang with six.

Sullivan recorded four aces, followed by Grill, Welch, and Weiser, with two each.

The Illineks will host Decatur Lutheran Friday.

In JV action, the Uni girls won a close match against Normal Calvary 26-24, 25-21.
