URBANA — Junior Holden Bucher scored two goals Thursday as the Illineks recorded their second consecutive shutout, defeating Decatur Christian 3-0.

Senior Jake Seeley also scored as Uni raised its season mark to 4-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the East Central Illinois Conference.

Decatur Christian falls to 3-2-1 overall, 1-1 in the ECIC. The Warriors defeated conference opponent Decatur Lutheran 3-1 on Aug. 30.

Goalkeeper Isaac Radnitzer recorded his third shutout of the year, lowering his goals-against average to 1.14 per game.

After a scoreless first half, Bucher launched a shot from the right side of the box to get Uni on the board with 17 minutes, 4 seconds left in the game. Junior Russell Prochaska assisted on the play.

With 8:20 left, sophomore Dan Lilly assisted Seeley on the senior forward/midfielder's second goal of the year. The goal put the game out of reach for the visiting Warriors.

A minute and 20 seconds later, Bucher took a through-pass from Seeley and broke away, scoring his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Uni dominated field position throughout the contest but couldn't get its offense flowing until the second half. The team recorded nine shots on goal, with six of them coming after halftime.

Radnitzer made three saves, two in the first half.

Late in the contest, junior midfielder Stephen Prochaska went down with a hamstring injury. Uni head coach Philip Anders said Prochaska will probably miss the next few games.

Despite a rainstorm prior to the game, weather conditions were generally good during the contest and didn't seem to affect either team.

Next up: Uni will host Sullivan in a 10 a.m. Saturday game.
