• Uni and Class AA Mahomet-Seymour played to a 0-0 tie for more than 60 minutes until the visiting Bulldogs scored on a shot that slipped out of goalkeeper Sarah Pfander's grasp.
• The second score came on a Uni "own goal," after an Illinek defender tried to kick the ball out of play only to see it hit a goalpost and bounce in.
• The final score came in the closing minute when a Bulldog charge beat a tired Uni defense for an easy goal.

GAME REPORT BY COACH PHIL ANDERS
In a game against Class AA Mahomet-Seymour, the number one seed in their Normal
(Community) Sub-Sectional, the Uni girls soccer team looked as if it was prepared to
take control of the game at many times in the first 63 minutes of a well fought,
evenly matched game. Most of the play was a battle for possession in the middle of
the field, with few shots on both ends. In the early second half, it appeared that
Uni was to be the first team to break the 0-0 deadlock. However, one of Mahomet's
few counter attacks, in the second half, resulted in a corner kick. On the following
kick, a shot from the right side seemed to be a routine save for Uni goal keeper,
Sarah Pfander, who has been outstanding this year, resulted in a rare error, as the
shot slipped through her hands to break the tie. Uni pushed forward, looking to tie
the game, ending with a total of 7 shots on goal for the second half to Mahomet's 4.
Two more rare defensive mistakes by Uni on the Mahomet counter attack resulted in
goals scored in the 71st and 79th minute, with one own goal. The final score did not
reflect an evenly matched game on both ends. FINAL: UNI (0) MAHOMET (3)
The junior varsity game that followed had the Uni squad falling back in their
defensive end, trying to fend off the Mahomet attack. Early in the 6th minute of the
game, Mahomet scored on a cross from the left corner to a waiting Makenzie Holmes on
the back post. This was the only score in the game, that saw the Uni squad turn
things around for the remainder of the game, moving the ball upfield, and forcing
the Mahomet goal keeper into a couple of saves to preserve the win. FINAL: UNI (0)
MAHOMET (1)
