GAME REPORT BY COACH PHIL ANDERS
In quite a dominant display of attacking soccer, the Uni girls completely out played
the visiting Judah Christian team in ECIC Conference play this morning. Within the
first 10 minutes of the game, Jessica Stark had two assists to both teammates Suran
Yoo and Zoe Schein. Great defense by the Judah goal keeper, Mallory Clark, recording
15 saves in the first half, kept the game from getting out of hand. However,
tirelessly controlling the field of play and not letting the Judah defense take a
moments rest, the Uni attack would record 5 more goals in the second half. Senior
players, Suran Yoo, Zoe Schein, Shara Esbenshade, and Chelsea Freeland would all
record goals, while Yoo, Esbenshade, and Jessica Stark would contribute assists, to
mark the Senior Day event for Uni. Joy Shapley added to her team leading assist
tally by finding Erika Belmont in front of the Judah goal in the 60th minute, as
well as finishing a beautiful cross from Esbenshade in the 63rd minute. Senior Sarah
Pfander played the first 12 minutes in goal, before trading her shirt for a field
jersey, and effectively controlled the attack from a center mid-field position.
Backup goal keeper Sheri Grill did fine to preserve the shutout, only coming off her
line once to stop a possible threat. Typically defensive players, Zoe Schein and
Chelsea Freeland saw plenty of action on the attack end, both recording their first
goals of the season, with Schein winning a second goal from a direct kick 25 yards
out that was placed perfectly in the upper corner. FINAL: UNI (7) JUDAH CHRISTIAN
