This puppy is currently housed at the Champaign County Animal Control office. He was confiscated during a cruelty investigation. He is reported to have been thrown through the wall of the house by his owner. When the animal control officers went to investigate the report, they found the puppy chained to a tree by a three foot long chain. He was reported to have been without shelter, food and cover for a long period of time, and was surrounded by piles of feces.
I think this little guy will turn into a very handsome field english setter. He'll have a shorter coat as an adult, and will be structurally similar to the dog on the english setter web page that can be accessed by clicking on the link above. He is very outgoing , very human oriented, and quite happy. He hadn't seen a ball before, but was retrieving reasonably well by the end of our play period. He's a super stable, outgoing dog who comes running to you when you call him, and sits with a big smile on his face. A complete delight! I think he is a really nice sport prospect, but also will work out well as a family dog in a situation with a fenced yard that allows him opportunity to exercise.
He was turned down by the Champaign County Humane Society Animal Shelter twice due to their limitations regarding number of large dogs they can take.
