DTC of C-U Advanced Agility Drop-In
The Dog Training Club of Champaign-Urbana offered Advanced Agility Drop-In on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on January 15, 22, 29, and February 5, 12 and 19, 2000. This class gave people the opportunity to work their dogs at times which were most convenient for them without the obligation of taking a class. Because there was no formal instruction, the drop-in was limited to 1) dog-handler teams who were currently trialing in either AKC, UKC or USDAA venues, 2) dog-handler teams who have been in DTC Advanced Agility or Agility II classes during 1999, and 3) past and current DTC-CU agility class instructors or assistants. Dave Stone, Chris Mayer and Betsy Sachs coordinated equipment set-up for indoor work sessions at the club building. We moved outdoors to run JWW courses on days when the weather permitted us to work outside at Uni High's athletic field. Interested individuals contacted Charlotte Craft to sign up for the drop-in sessions. Club members paid the standard $5 fee per class drop in or $25 for reservation of a working slot for each of the six sessions. Because of space and equipment limitations we limited the drop-in sessions to a total of 12 handler slots per day.
Information regarding location of the meeting was posted on the DTC of C-U Agility Drop-In Web Page (http://www.uni.uiuc.edu/~dstone/dtcagility.html) by 10 am each Saturday morning. Those lacking web access called the Stone's residence (643-7622) between 9 am and 10 am each Saturday morning for an update regarding location of the day's activities. We based our weekly equipment set-up on exercises found in Clean Run Productions' Advanced Agility Workbook (http://www.cleanrun.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=40) so that handler's could either work different pieces of equipment and sequences as they chose or more specifically follow the training program and handling exercises outlined in the Advanced Agility Workbook. Jumpers with Weaves courses at Uni High were actual AKC Open JWW courses.
The Spring 2000 Advanced Agility Drop-In runs from April 15 through June 3. Mary Phillips is coordinating the Spring session. Advanced Agility Drop-In will be held at Uni High (weather permitting), and at the club building during times of adverse weather. Contact Mary Phillips for more details.

January 22 - Pinwheel Peril 1 and 2 (pp.17-18) plus pause table upstairs, Weave Pole entry exercises (p.21) downstairs, teeter outside if weather permits.
January 29 - Double Dragon Object Discrimination (p. 28) plus double jump upstairs, weaves, pipe tunnel, single bar and chute downstairs, teeter outside if weather permits.
February 5 - Playground tight handling (p. 57), weaves, pipe tunnel, single bar and chute downstairs, teeter outside if weather permits.
February 12 - Run around Sue (p.70) and variations (p.71), triple jump on one side of the room upstairs, weaves, pipe tunnel, single bar and chute downstairs, teeter or A-frame outside if weather permits.
February 19 - Walk into Pinwheel Peril (p.85) plus pause table upstairs, weaves, pipe tunnel, single bar and chute downstairs, teeter outside if weather permits.
Option for One of the Weeks- Go Tunnel (pp. 95 - 97) plus pause table upstairs, weaves, pipe tunnel, single bar and chute downstairs, teeter outside if weather permits.
Another Option - Loop de Loops (112-114) upstairs, weaves, pipe tunnel, single bar and chute downstairs, teeter outside if weather permits.
